At the beginning of the war, on September 3, 1939, he was mobilized as a second lieutenant in a military reserve in Vilnius. He spent the first days with the military unit in Sokółka in the backup center, then in Vilnius Az until the Soviet troops entered. On September 20, 1939, he was interned in Lithuania in the camps in Palanga and Kalwaria. From July 10, 1940, he was interned in the Kozelsk camp in the USSR. After signing the agreement between Sikorski and Stalin (August 29, 1941), he was sent to the camp in Tnotskoye, then to Jakkobag. This is how he got to the Polish army in the Middle East (August 15, 1942). Here he was incorporated into the 2nd Polish Corps.
