Member of the NSDAP and Schutzstaffel from 1932 .He began his camp career in Dachau in 1934 , where he stayed until 1938 . Hewas a Blockführer and head of a prisoner commando there. Then, from 1938 tothe end of 1939, he served in Flossenbürg as the head of a commando dealingwith the construction of camp barracks. Finally, from January 1940 to April11, 1945 , he served as Schutzhaftlagerführer (until 1942 he was deputy headof the camp) in Buchenwald. Schobert was also responsible for the forcedlabor of the prisoners of this camp. He constantly mistreated the prisoners, beating them, kicking them, hitting them with a whip or attacking them witha dog. He directed the so-called Kommando 99 , whose task was to murderSoviet prisoners of war in the camp stables (about 8,000 of them died). Itis estimated that he supervised around 300 executions. He participated inmany personally. In April 1945, for several weeks he was also aSchutzhaftlagerführer in the Dachau camp.At the end of April 1945, Schobert fled to Austria , where he was capturedin May 1945 by the Americans . He was then tried in the trial of theBuchenwald crew (US vs. Josias Prince Zu Waldeck and others) before the USMilitary Tribunal in Dachau . Schobert was sentenced to death by hanging .The sentence was carried out on November 19, 1948 in Landsberg Prison .This is a typed document from Buchenwald concentration camp and measures140mm x 200mm
