Letter from Rabbi Haim Ozer Grodzinsky to Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov HaKohen Yafeh. Vilna 1921.
Letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Haim Ozer Grodzinsky to Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov HaKohen Yafeh, Rabbi of Manchester. He asks his addressee for help for the Mir yeshiva, led by Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, who was exiled during WWI from Poltava to Vilna, and for the other Lithuanian yeshivas who were under the responsibility of Rabbi Haim Ozer, “to strengthen the fortress of Judaism and to return Judaism to its residence.”
The recipient: Rabbi Yaakov HaKohen Yafeh (1874-1934) was the author of the work Knesset Yisrael. He served as Rabbi of Manchester (UK).
On the back of the leaf is taped a response from Rabbi Yisrael HaKohen Yafeh to Rabbi Haim Ozer, handwritten without signature.
