Letter written entirely by hand and signed by Admor Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn, to his son-in-law’s son-in-law, Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel Baumberger
Letter from the Admor, Wednesday of the week of Devarim, when he resided at the resort town of Bade-Hall in Austria. He writes: “I am enjoying the springs here and the fine air, I hope my health will be completely rejuvenated.” At the end he asks as a good grandfather: “I ask to see you and that you will try to come and breathe in the good air here.” He ends with a blessing. Size: 11.5x17.5cm. Folding creases, light stains, overall good condition.
Rabbi Yisrael Friedman of Husiatyn (1858-1949), the elder of the rebbes of the Ruzhin family, named after his grandfather the founder of the dynasty Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. In 1894 he was appointed to succeed his father as rebbe of Husiatyn and the thousands of disciples who had followed his father now accepted his authority. Toward the end of his life he immigrated to Israel and settled in Tel Aviv, where he established his court.
