A RARE SOVIET WWII ORDER OF PATRIOTIC WAR I CLASS
An extremely rare/sought-after, high-ranking WWII Soviet Order of the Patriotic War I Class (Type 2 Variation 1). This Order of the Patriotic War is in amazing condition, with all enamel still intact in almost mint condition, and a beautifully aged gold star "ray" backing. This specific Order of The Patriotic War I Class is #62490, which means that this specific Order was issued sometime in 1944. The statute for being awarded an Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class was very strict, and very hard to achieve. For example, one would be awarded the Order of the Patriotic War I Class for (depending on their branch): shooting down three aircraft as a fighter pilot, destroying two heavy or three medium or four light tanks, or capturing a warship, or repairing an aircraft under fire after landing in hostile territory.
