RARE Gennaro De Luccia 1931 Violin With Label & Apprais
RARE Gennaro De Luccia 1931 Violin With Label & Appraisal. Measure Approx. 23 3/4". Back Of Violin Is Constructed With A Single Piece Of Wood. From A Private Individual Whose Grandfather Owned It. A third generation luthier from the De Luccia family of Italian instrument makers, Gennaro De Luccia was born in 1911 in Casigliano, Sessa Cilento, where he learned to build plucked and bowed instruments from his father Michele (I, 1848-1924), alongside his cousins Vincenzo (b. 1882) and Michele (II, 1912-1980). In 1951, Gennaro immigrated to the United States, where he worked for Rembert Wurlitzer in New York City. Gennaro De Luccia later worked in Miami, Florida, where he retired in 1978. FROM A CLEAN HOME WHERE IS WAS WELL PRESERVED AND IN PRISTINE CONDITION.Appraisal letter Horvat Fine Violins and Bows, LLC5-20-2019To Whom it may concern:Here is a document which attests that a full size violin bearing an original label "Gennaro De Luccia, figli de Michelle Fece in Meroato Citento, anno 1931" belongs to XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, Florida.Upon examination, it is conclusive that the above named full size violin is a handmade Italian instrument crafted by Gennaro De Luccia. at the time of examination, the violin appears to be in a well preserved and stable condition with no major structural concerns. The overall form, the shape/placement of f holes, and the treatment of the purfling point that the above violin is based on the long Stradivari and the Amati patterns, mixed with the maker's own individual characteristic details. The one-piece back, the neck and the sides are carved in flamed curly maple. The top is made in straight grained spruce. The violin is coated in red-amber oil-based varnish over an oxidized ground.Based on the quality of the materials and craftsmanship, the historical importance of the maker, the current state of solid physical integrity, the tone quality, and based on the current value of comparable instruments on the market, the above named violin should have an estimated replacement value of $22,000.00 (twenty two thousand US dollars)I hope that you would find this information useful.Sincerely, signed Damir Horvatowner of Horvat Fine Violins and Bows, LLC
