After the defeat, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was carved up, the territory that was not given to the surrounding Axis neighbours, including the new German-puppet Independent State of Croatia in the west, Italian-occupied territories in the south, Hungarian-occupied territories in the north-west, and Bulgarian-occupied territories in the south-east, became part of a German Serbian collaborationist administration.
