Color frontispiece with captioned tissue-guard | Approx. Size: 12" H x 9.75" W | William Fergusson Hole, RSA (1846 – 1917) was an English artist, illustrator, etcher, engraver and a member of the Royal Scottish Academy. He travelled to Palestine in 1900 in order to study the background for biblical painting and there began working on the 80 watercolors that would eventually appear as illustrations in his books.
