Sculp." | A line Engraving of Richard I, King of England - Half length portrait facing front with short hair, crown, robe, mantle, holding battle-axe in right hand, with ornaments. Draped in cloth on a lion skin below the portrait is the inscription "Richardus I. Rex Anglorum" | In the background of the portrait is a war related scene with a battle banner, tent, armor and weapons | Approx. Size: 19.5" H x 15.5 W; Image: 11" H x 7.2" W (278 mm x 182 mm) | Engraved in the lower center margin: "Buried in the Abbey of Font-evraud, where the statue of his Monument is still preserv'd." | Plate is from Paul de Rapin-Thoyras' and Nicolas Tindal's HISTORY OF ENGLAND (1732-33) published in London by James, John, and Paul Knapton with plates by George Vertue.
