A Rare Historic Proclamation In Support of Printing The Vilna Gaon’s Manuscripts, Jerusalem 1903.

Presented here is an extremely rare and historical document pertaining to the publication of the holy manuscripts and teachings of the Vilna Gaon. Written by R. Eliyahu Landau, a grandson of the Gaon, this document was endorsed by Jerusalem’s leading Rabbis, with many adding their personal blessing and support.

Autographs and personal blessing of Jerusalem’s leading Rabbis are seen, including: R. Yosef Chaim Sonenfeld, R. Shaul Chaim Horowitz (originally from Minsk, son-in-law of R. David Tevele author of “Nachalas David”), R. Chaim Yaakov Shapiro (father-in-law of R. Aryeh Levine and grandson of R. Leibele Kovner), R. David Zvi Hirsch, and R. Chaim Yitzchak Aaron-Rappaport, the Vilkomir Maggid.

R. Chaim Yitzchok was born in 1802 and died at a ripe old age of 102 in Jerusalem. Besides for being a famed Maggid, he is also famous for his work entitled “Klil Tiferes”, in which he refutes the controversial passage found in Tiferes Yisroel regarding the personality of Moshe Rabbeinu. The work was well received and earned praise from the Aderes, and Maharil Diskin. It is interesting to see his signature here, as it is well known that even in old age (in this case one year before his passing), he did not need glasses when signing his name or writing.

An extremely rare and historically important piece.

In good condition. Repairs to fold area, sometimes affecting text.
