Herman Sachs (Segal) (1883-1940) was an artist and art educator, active in Germany and the United States in the first half of the 20th century. Sachs first received art training as a child under his artist father. Spent the 1920s in Munich, where he founded the School of Expressionists in Munich (Munich Expressionist Workshop). Around 1925, Sachs moved to Los Angeles to design the interiors of the new gas company building.

As a mural and designer, Zacks went on to design the interiors of many landmarks in Los Angeles, including the Bolux Wilshire Building, Union Station, Los Angeles City Hall, and the insurance company and trust companies building. As an educator as well as an artist, Sachs also directed the Los Angeles Student School of Creative Arts.
