GERMAN POW WOUND BADGE & DOCUMENTS
Small grouping for a German POW captured in May of 1943 in Tunisia by US forces, Obergefreiter Helmut Stichternath, born Feb. 2, 1916 in Minden, Germany. Included is his basic personnel record file card with his mug shots and fingerprints. He was held PW Camp Bowie, TX, with a copy of a list of POW's. Also included is his black wound badge with his award certificate for the medal, issued 23.10.1941, with copies of sick papers from the hospital. The last item is a letter from the German Central Bank from 1952 notifying him about the status of confiscated foreign currency in his possession at the time of his capture. 7 pieces, very good.
