The Gaon Rabbi Menachem Azarya ben Rabbi Eliyahu Castilnovo (1772-1847) was born in Siene, Italy. Already as a child, he stood out in his scholarliness and wisdom and was proficient in Mikrah and Mishnah, Talmud and Poskim, grammar and philosophy. He earned his living as the scribe of the philanthropist Yehoshua Recanati and later as Rav and Dayan in Siene. Since 1815, he served as the Rav of the large Jewish community of Padova. In 1824, he left Padova and served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the "Beis Yosef Franco" yeshiva of Livorno. Authored Sefer "Misgeres HaShulchan" (Livorno, 1840) and Shut "Emek HaMelech" (Livorno, 1868). This manuscript was printed in his Sefer "Misgeres HaShulchan" leaf 14 pp. a-b, with variations. 


Fold marks, aging stains, water stains affecting several words, traces of a wax seal, a tear to the side of the leaf due to the opening of the letter, not affecting the text. Good condition.
