Technique: Holztafel mit zwei Stirnseiten-Sponki, verso Samtabdeckung. Ölmalerei, Nimben vergoldet. Silber, getrieben und vergoldet, Scheinsteine

A SIGNED AND DATED ICON SHOWING THE TIKHVINSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH A SILVER-GILT OKLAD VERMEIL-OKLAD Russian, Vasiliy Slobodtshikov, dated 1787 (icon), Russian, Moscow, Grigory Ivanov Serebrannikov, 1787 (oklad) Serebrannikow, 1787 (Oklad) Oil on wood panel. The haloes made of gold. Signed in Cyrillic and dated ‘1787’ lower right. The silver-gilt oklad with elaborate repoussé floral designs in the Baroque style, the prominent radiating haloes bearing a crown set with vari-coloured paste. The oklad border marked with city hallmark, assayer’s mark and master’s mark ‘GS’ in Cyrillic. Minior areas of retouching. 35 x 29.3 cm.
