A VERY FINE AND LARGE ICON SHOWING THE VOLOKOLAMSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD WITH OKLAD Russian, school of Romanov Borisoglebsk, circa 1800 Tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Executed in great detail, the Mother of God wearing a blue tunic and a red mantle, the hems richly decorated with gold chrysography and simulated gem stones. The Christ Child dressed in a chiton highlighted in gold. Overlaid with a chased metal oklad. 44.8 x 35.2 cm.
