A VERY FINE ICON OF THE PETCHERSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD (OF THE KIEV CAVES) Russian, Palekh, circa 1800 Tempera on gessoed wood panel. Finely executed in great detail on a gold ground. 34.6 x 30.5 cm. On the reverse Cyrillic inscription. Two selected saints on the borders: Sts. Demetrius and Pelagia. Minor areas of retouching.
