Technique: Verbund zweier Bretter mit zwei Rückseiten-Sponki (einer verloren). Kowtscheg, Eitempera auf Kreidegrund, partielle Vergoldung

A LARGE ICON OF A COMPLETE ICONOSTASIS Russian, Palekh, early 19th century Egg tempera on wood panel with kovcheg. Finely painted with great attention to detail and with an abundant use of gold. The panel faithfully reproducing the screen that separates the nave from the sanctuary in the Orthodox Churches. Minor areas of restoration, minor losses to the borders, the right border partially added. 53 x 44.8 cm.
