AN ICON SHOWING ST. GEORGE KILLING THE DRAGON WITH A SILVER-GILT OKLAD Russian, early 20th century (icon), Russian, Moscow, 1st Artel, 1908-1917 (oklad) Oil on wood panel with velvet backing. Overlaid with a silver-gilt oklad. The oklad border repoussé and chased with scrolling foliate designs. Marked with assayer’s mark, 84 standard and master’s mark ‘1 JaA’ in Cyrillic. The silver frame added in recent decades, bearing spurious Russian hallmarks. 31 x 26.5 cm.
