A rare maquette of the Russian Soviet satirical poster Dead Souls, designed by Yuri Trunev (1921-1986) Soviet graphic artist, member of the Fighting Pencil - a creative association of Leningrad artists who produced propaganda posters in the USSR. The Russian text read as follows: Dead souls again? The title of the poster contains a Russian wordplay shower (dush) and soul (dusha). The poster depicts two plumbers who abuse alcohol and do not complete their work, thus hampering the work of conscientious employees.Poster maquette by Yuri Trunev for The Fighting Pencil Group, circa 1970 - 1980, with original Russian pencil marks on the backside - Trunev, Dead Souls, and others.
