Tzofeh Ivri!!! An Illustrated Poster of the Israeli Scouts Movement. 1940's, Rare
[1] leaf, stencil printing.
A poster of the Israeli Scouts Movement, Israel 1940's. It seems that the poster was circulated following riots in which Jews were killed in Israel and is intended to encourage the survivors to continue struggling and fighting for the revival of the land. "Their blood still lives and flutters, calling to all of us and crying: be strong brothers, continue on our path and do not let the hands of the enemies turn you back...". There is also an appeal to the scout who is a member of the movement to encourage him to lead the people: "Do you know Scout, how to show everyone that you are fit to be a scout of the nation and to lead its way...". On the left of the writing is a large illustration of two friends in traditional Scout's uniforms, one holding a hoe [a symbol of building] and the other a rifle [a symbol of war], the symbol of the Scouts, and a guard tower.
Early posters from the Israeli Scouts are considered to be very rare [the movement was established in Israel in 1918]. Approximately 40 posters about the Israeli Scouts are listed in the ephemera collection of the National Library from the Yad Tabenkin Collection, most of them later, from the 1960's onward.
Before us is an early and unknown poster which does not appear in the National Library's ephemera collection.
Aging stains, folding marks, moderate-fine condition.
