On Saturday, November 4, 1995, at the end of a mass rally whose slogan was "neither for violence nor for peace, " the Israeli prime minister and defense minister, Yitzhak Rabin, was assassinated. 1922 in Jerusalem. In 1940 he joined the Palmach, in 1948 he was appointed commander of the Harel Brigade and in 1950 he was appointed head of the General Staff's Operations Division. Appointed Ambassador to the United States and in 1973 was elected Prime Minister. In 1977 he retired and in 1992 he returned to serve as Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. In 1993 he signed the "Declaration of Principles" with the Palestinians and in 1994 he signed the Israel-Jordan peace treaty. The few words engraved on the medal "I have dedicated my whole life to security and peace" say it all about the great man and his way.
The face of the medal: a portrait of Yitzhak Rabin against the background of the Israeli flag. On the left, along the perimeter, the caption "Yitzhak Rabin Prime Minister and Minister of Defense" and "PRIME MINISTER YITZHAK RABIN". In the lower part, along the perimeter, the years "1922-1995".
Back of the medal: Dove, the emblem of the state, the emblem of the IDF and the emblem of the Palmach. Under the symbols is the caption "I devoted my whole life to security and peace", the English version "I devoted all my life to security and peace" and Yitzhak Rabin's signature in Hebrew and English. In gold medals the back side is embedded at 180 degrees relative to the side of the face.
