It presents an important and extensive research into the banners and standards of the Russian army regiments from the time of Ivan the Terrible until 1900, providing detailed description of colours and symbols used and the exact dates of any changes made.
Two text volumes, folio (33.5 x 25.5 cm). Offset printing from the original types- cript, limited to 100 copies. 32, 30 pp.; 89, 56 pp., text in Russian and French, limitation stamp on rst page of vol. 1. Original printed wrappers. Complete set of 123 plates, including 8 coloured in contemporary hand, not bound as issued, kept in two contemporary card folders. All kept in amateur cloth slip-case.
