Miniature – Tikunei Shabbat by the Ari – Amsterdam 1691 – Rabbi Shlomo Ayllón- Extremely Rare, Has never been Seen in Auctions
Tikunei Shabbat – miniature – Amsterdam 1691.
An extremely rare edition which was printed for the first time from a manuscript that was brought from Safed by Rabbi Shlomo Ayllón to the printing house of Rabbi David Tartas of Amsterdam.
At the beginning of the copy, a handwritten leaf describing the philanthropist "Shmuel Asher Constantini" of Pissarro who came to Padova "to find a cure to his pains and pangs of death wrapped him and he passed away purely after midnight of Tuesday the 24th of Cheshvan 1732". The copy before us had most likely belonged to the aforementioned philanthropist and after his death, the writer wrote his story on the Forsazt leaf.
Original, decorated leather binding.
115 leaves (originally 128). The title page and the pages of "Kitzur Sefer Yetzira" are missing from this copy.
10 cm.
Condition: Good. The spine is flawed and there are a few moth signs on the binding and first leaves. Time stains and natural wear.
