Viking Howling Beast Stirrup Mount
11th century AD
A bronze triangular stirrup mount with mounting hole at the apex and two to the lower edge, vestigial ledge to the reverse, reserved central motif of a wolf in profile with head thrown back; Williams's Class A Type 11. 21 grams, 50mm (2"). Fine condition.
Provenance
Property of a Nottinghhamshire collector; acquired in the 1980s.
