Anglo-Saxon Silver Tag with Beast
8th-9th century AD
A silver triangular strap tag with decorated surface; Trewhiddle style beast to the central field with contorted s-shaped body within a billeted border; three circular perforations to the upper field; bifurcated to the apex to form the remains two hooks. 4 grams, 37mm (1 1/2"). Fine condition.
Provenance
Found Essex, UK, before 1997; disclaimed by the crown in 2008.
