9th century AD
A bronze convex-sided strap end of Thomas's Class A1 bearing a central panels of a Trewhiddle Style beast with a panel of knotwork; a palmette-shaped panel respects the two rivet-holes at the top; the finial with a beast-head with square ears and pellet eyes. 6.33 grams, 44mm (1 3/4"). Fine condition. [No Reserve]
