Signed Responsa by the Maharam Ash, Rabbi Meir Eisenstaedter; Ungvar, 1848
Halachic response regarding the kosher status of a Sukkah, signed by the Maharam Esh, Av Beis Din of Ungvar and author of Imrei Eish.
The response is written and signed by Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Goitein, Av Beis Din of Hőgyész. Rabbi Goitein copied over the Maharam Ash's response as well which the Maharam Ash then signed.
Rabbi Meir Eisenstaedter (1780 - 1852), known by all as the Maharam Ash, was the son-in-law of Rabbi David Deutsch, author of Ohel David. A leading Hungarian rabbi, he was a prized disciples of the Chassam Sofer who attested that no other disciple imitated his ways such as the Maharam Ash. Rabbi Chaim of Sanz described him as a "…giant man, his praise fills the land and his riotousness and Heavenly fear are expressed by all…" He taught hundreds of students and people flocked to him from all corners of the land. The great rabbis of his time came to him as well, such as the Yeri'os Shlomo, Mahariatz, Goren David, Divrei Chaim, Yitav Leiv, Ma'aglei Tzedek, Minchas Chinuch, Rabbi Shlomo Kluger and others.
Rabbi Tzvi Hersch Goitein (1802 - 1856) was the son of the Kessef Nivchar and studied by the Maharam Ash in his youth.
Dated Ungvar, 1848.
