The holy Kabbalist Rabbi Yosef Leib Sussman (1922 - 1999) was a rabbi and Kabbalist of Yerushalmi, a disciple of Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Harlap and his co-authors. Since then he adored Rav Kook, quoted him and told about him. His most prominent teacher was Rabbi Yaakov Moshe Harlap, a disciple of Rabbi Kook, to whom he was deeply attached, and was one of the editors of his books "Mei Marom".
He studied at Yeshivat Etz Chaim and wrote articles in Halachah. In addition, he began to study Kabbalah at Yeshivat Sha'arei HaKhamayim, and even later gave shiurim in Kabbalah according to the Vilna Ga'on.
For years, he used to convey a conversation about the weekly Torah portion on Friday night to the students of Yeshivat Merkaz Harav and Ateret Cohanim Yeshiva, to which he was very attached. In this conversation he would explain the parasha according to the Kabbalah.
Like the Kabbalists in Jerusalem, was modest and self-conscious all his life. His place of prayer was in the Beit Midrash in the houses of Broida behind the Pillar of Prayer, next to the great Rabbi Zundel Kreuser, author of "Or HaChama". Many would flock to hear his Omer counting according to the intentions of the holy names, which would have lasted nearly an hour, with weeping and effusion. Rabbis and Admorim from all circles appreciated and respected him and would come to him for consultation, study, and receiving a blessing.
