A complete composition handwritten by Rabbi Shmuel Ben Kiki Rosh Av Beit Din of Tiberius, containing novellae on Seder Parashiyot HaTorah and many sermons, among them sermons he had delivered in various places when he left as an emissary of the Tiberius. The 19th century. The composition has not been printed! [157] leaves. 260 written pages.


The manuscript contains novellae on the Pentateuch, commentary on the Midrashim of the Sages on the Parashot, commentary on the Messorah. Biblical novellae. Novellae on several Talmudic tractates and sermons he delivered in various places. "Eulogizing sermon I delivered in Tripoli", "Eulogizing sermon", "Eulogizing sermon for a man and a woman which I delivered in Tunis", "Sermon for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur", "Eulogizing sermon for the kosher woman Azina the wife of the philanthropist Yasaf Nataf", "Eulogizing sermon for the sufferer". In addition, a special chapter titled "Kushiyot V'Terutzim". Several sermons are signed by him.

Rabbi Shmuel Ben Kiki (1842-1919), Rosh Av Beit Din of Tiberius and one of its leading sages in the late 19th century. Was born in Rabat, Morocco to his father Rabbi David Ben Kiki, who was one of the leaders of the community. When he was ten, he immigrated with his father to the Land of Israel and settled in Tiberius. His father died in his prime. In time, he married the daughter of Rosh Av Beit Din of Tiberius Rabbi Yosef David Abulafia. In 1881, he was sent as an emissary of the rabbis to Tunis, where he wrote an approbation for a book titled Samo Yosef by Rabbi Yosef ben Walid, the son of the "Vayomar Yitzchak". Later he became a member of the Beit Din of the Rosh Av beit Din Rabbi Ya;akov Hacohen Skali and his signature appears on many of its rulings. In addition, he was a teacher and one of his disciples was Rabbi Ya'akov Chai Zrihan, who became in time the rabbi of Tiberius. After Rabbi Ya'akov Skali's death, he was appointed Rosh Av Beit Din of Tiberius. He also authored many books, the prominent of which is his book on Shemot Gittin, Shem David, a ten-volume series which he wrote during more than thirty years, Another book he authored is Ma'arachot Shmuel – Ma'arachot Halacha alphabetically ordered which was printed from his manuscript in Jerusalem, 1994. He authored several additional books which remained as manuscripts. He had two sons, David and Eliyahu Reuven, who died in his lifetime.

On leaf 5 and the six last leaves there is a small blemish on the margins of the leaf, with an omission of single words of the text. Ancient-style, new binding.
