Discovery. Unknown Novellae by the "Kitzur Shulchan Aruch." Autograph, Brüsewitz. C. 1845

Notepad of Torah novellae and more, in the hand of Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried, known through the generations as the author of Kitzur Shulchan Aruch. Brüsewitz. C. 1845

Notepad of aggadic novellae in his hand. On the title page: Aggadic Novellae Granted by Hash-m to his Servant, the Youth R' Shlomo G. F. (- Ganzfried) of Brüsewitz.  Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried refused to serve as a rabbi, and ran a business alongside his Torah study. However, when his teacher Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Heller requested, he agreed to serve as rabbi of Brüsewitz, and beginning in 1843, he served as rabbi there for just a few years, where he composed his book Pnei Shlomo al HaSha"s and Torat HaZevach

The notepad includes 28 pages with novellae on Torah and on aggadah, as well as 'Notes on the Mishnahs' - short novellae on Mishnah.

There are corrections and erasures on the manuscript, and many additions in the margins. To the best of our knowledge, these novellae have not been printed (in his book Apirion, there are several essays on the same issue).

At the conclusion of the Torah novellae, the author inscribes his children's birth dates, starting from his eldest son R' Yosef, who he mentions in his book citing the latter's Torah novellae, through his youngest son, Rabbi Yom Tov Lipman. His son's names are known; however, here we also have their birthdays.

On the final two leaves of the notepad, Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried wrote a list of his books. Under the title: 'List of books Hash-m granted me' and 'List of books Elok-m granted me.' Four pages, each divided to two columns, for a list of a total of approximately 120 books.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of Rabbi Shlomo Ganzfried.

[28] p. 18x23 cm. Author's autograph. Erasures and corrections. Minimal aging stains. New leather binding.
