Gance explains to his correspondent that he has found by chance her last letter and states `..I send you this draft letter which I was going to send to Claude Mauriac and I never did. A prominent figure of realism, best remembered for his film Children of Paradise (1945), often considered one of the best films of all time. A.L.S., Marcel Carné, one page, 4to, 16th July 1975, on his printed stationery, to Colette Monceau, in French. Having his correspondent made a study on his hand-writing, Carné states in part `Everything is there. I have discovered myself, or instead, I have discovered what I was trying to hide to myself… Bravo! And thank you.´; and JULES DASSIN (1911-2008) American film Director, Writer and Actor. Dassin moved to France during the McCarthy area after being included in the Hollywood blacklist. Father of famous singer Joe Dassin, and husband of awarded Greek actress Melina Mercouri. A passionate love letter, A.L.S., `Jules´, one page, 4to, Greece, 9th April 1981, on his personal printed stationery, to Carine Rueff. Dassin states in part `It is too difficult to maintain a silence. You are too deep in my heart. I do not, I cannot stop thinking in you…..I am not sure that I should keep telling you this. But nor am I sure that I should not´. The three letters are accompanied by the original envelopes addressed in their hands respectively.
