Rabbinical authorisation issued by Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Lipschitz for his son, Rabbi Zecharia Lipschitz in 1872. Rabbi Ezriel Hildesheimer adds a few lines: ‘Although I have always sought to avoid issuing rabbinical authorisations, I have made an exception in this case, knowing of the qualities of the above-named, harabani hamuflag R. Zecharia ...’ followed by his signature.

Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Lipschitz (1812-1878), son of Rabbi Yisrael Lipschitz, author of the classic Mishna commentary Tifferes Yisrael. Rabbi of Landsberg and the State of Mecklenburg, before moving to Hamburg (1859), where he studied Torah constantly and gained a great reputation through his derashos and shiurim and was greatly revered. Author of Misgeres Zahav and of notes published together with his father’s Mishna commentary.

Rabbi Ezriel Hildesheimer (1820-1899), disciple of Rabbi Yakov Ettlinger - the Aruch La’ner. Rabbi of Eisenstadt (1851), where he established a Rabbinical Training College. In 1869 he was appointed Rabbi of the Adas Yisroel community in Berlin, where he established the Rabbiner Seminar and many welfare organisations and activities.
