Long Response on Hilchot Treifot by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov the Son of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschil of Bar to the Gaon the Beit Ephraim of Brody.

Long response on Hilchot Treifot by the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov the Son of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschil of Bar to the Gaon the Beit Ephraim Zalman Margaliyot author of Beit Ephraim of Brody. The letter bears the date Sunday, Balak [1811] and deals with the matters of Nekev Bri'ah which the hides have punctured one not across the other, דקו בנפיחה ולא בצבץ.

At the end of the response, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov refers to the Rabbinic philanthropist Rabbi Chaim and notes that it has already been said clearly by the Rabbi the Gaon of Mezhbizh and he has agreed with the words of the Machshir. Apparently, he is referring to the Gaon Rabbi

The Gaon Rabbi Yaakov of Bar, was greatly proficient in matters of Treifot. He is referred to in response sefarim and sefarim by Geonim of the period as one of the greatest Rabbis. Was the great-great-grandson of the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel of Krakow. His brother-in-law was the Gaon Rabbi Yeshaya Heilparin who replaced his father- in-law as Abad of Bar and one of his descendants was the Holy Tzaddik Rabbi Shalom Halevi Abd of Kaminka. Thus, the Gaon Rabbi Yaakov was the great uncle of the Gaon of Kaminka.
