The letter (which was sent to the organizers of the national conference for the sake of the Sabbath in Tel Aviv) is signed by Gedolei HaDor: the Gaon of Tshebin - Rabbi Dov Berish Widenfeld, the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin - the chairman of Moetzes Gedolei haTorah, Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel - Rosh Yeshivat Mir, and the Geonim Rabbi Ezra Atiyya and Rabbi Yehuda Tzeddaka - the Rashei Yeshivat Porat Yosef.
In the letter, Gedolei HaDor appeal to the organizers of the conference for the sake of Kedushat HaShabbat, writing: "Shabbat Malketa ... has been despoiled within the palace of a king ... due to our many vices, hundreds of workers whose fathers stood on Mount Sinai hearing from G-d "זכור את יום השבת לקדשו", are working in industry and trade, unwillingly and willingly..."
