Letter of Hishtadut for an Agunah by the Holy Rabbi Yoel Zvi Roth Author of Beis HaYotzer, one of the leading rabbis of Hungary.

In the letter, the Holy Gaon appeals to a certain Torah sage whose identity we have not discovered to act for Siddur Gett for some woman who has been waiting much time for a Gett and is now an Agunah.  He writes: "I too am appealing to your honor for this poor woman ... to be sent a Gett and bring her soul out of prison..."

The Holy Gaon Rabbi Yoel Zvi Roth (1820-1893), one of the greatest Poskim of Hungary. Was born to his father Shimon. In his youth, he studied with the Tzaddikim of his generation the Holy Rabbi author of Yismach Moshe of Oihel, the Holy Rabbi Zvi Hirsch of Liska, the Holy Rabbi author of of Divrei Chaim of Sanz (who was very fond of him) and more. He was also a leading desciple of the Maharam Esh. Served as Rav of several communities (including the Berezna community where he wrote the letter before us). Since 1884, had hundreds of students at his yeshiva in Hust. Authored the 'Beis HaYotzer' Shut and innovations.
