Tsionglinskiy Yan Frantsevich (1858–1912).

Painter, graphic artist. He came from a family of Polish nobles. In 1879 he moved to Petersburg, studied at the IAH with V.P. Vereshchagin and P.P. Chistyakova - first as a freelance, then as a regular student. He made creative trips to the Crimea and the Caucasus. In 1896 he worked at the estate of M.K. Tenisheva Talashkino. In the 1890s he repeatedly traveled to Italy, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Morocco and other countries. In 1899–1903 he took part in exhibitions of the “World of Art” association. From 1902 (until 1912) he taught at the Higher Art School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture at the IAH, the Drawing School of the Society for the Promotion of Arts, led his own workshop, which is popular among young artists. In 1906 he was awarded the title of academician, in 1911 he was elected a full member of the Academy of Arts. Zionglinsky entered the history of Russian art primarily as an outstanding teacher who actively supports the latest trends, among his students - E.E. Lansere, S.V. Chekhonin, L.A. Bruni, I.I. Brodsky, M.V. Matyushin, E.G. Guro and many others. The artist's works are in the largest domestic museum collections, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum, and also in private collections.
