Nachalat Shivah by Rabbi Shmuel Halevi, Disciple of the Taz. Amsterdam, 1667. First Edition.

“Accepted throughout the Diaspora of Israel… specifically those who write Ketubot and Tena’im cannot manage without it, and it is required by all.” (From the words of Rabbi Asher Anshel Greenwald in the introduction to ‘Kitzur Nachalat Shivah’, describing the widespread circulation of the book.)''

In the book’s preface, the author lists seven reasons for the name ‘Nachalat Shivah’. Among them, he notes that this book is the legacy that he bequeaths to his sons and to others, and that the numerical value of ‘shivah’ is the same as that of his name – Shmuel.

The book’s title page describes the greatness and significance of this valuable book, which “has never been since ancient times”.
