Fundamental principles of Torah and Service of G-d, according to the revealed and hidden ways of interpretation. Authored by Rabbi Chaim of Volozhin, the primary disciple of the Gra.
Many parts of this book were written as a rebuttal to the Chassidic movement, as per the beliefs of the Gra and his students.
The author cherished this composition more than his many other Halachic works. Shortly before his demise he urged his students to hastily publish it. Rabbi Yitzchak Volozhin’s sons together with his nephew, Rabbi Avraham Simcha of Amchilev edited and published the book.
Rabbi Chaim Volozhin (1749-1821) was the leading disciple of the Gra, and founder of the flagship Yeshiva, Eitz Chaim, otherwise known as Yeshivas Volozhin – Mother of all Yeshivos.
Vilna – Horodna, 1824. First printing.
[6] 17: 10, 8, [1]: 4, 17 leaves. 22 cm.
Good – fair condition. 5-6 of the first leaves are slightly worn at the bottom. Two leaves have a tear not affecting text. Rest of copy in good condition.
