Gedulat Mordechai and Agudat Eizov. Hanau 1615. First Print.

Pedigree Copy of the Author of Nachalat Shivah. With Some of his Handwritten Glosses.

Incudes glosses and novellae on The Mordechai by the name 'Gedulat Mordechai', and the book, 'Agudat Eizov' on Choshen Mishpat by Rabbi Baruch ben Rabbi Dovid, Poland.

The book Agudat Eizov is mentioned dozens of times in The Shach, Choshen Mishpat. In his introduction, the author relates that he had a 'Mordechai' that was annotated in the handwriting of the Maharal of Prague.

A few leaves feature Rabbinic glosses. They appear to be the glosses of the author of the Nachalat Shivah, who signed his name on the title page of the book.

Rabbi Shmuel HaLevi Segal, the author of Nachlat Shivah, was born in Mezeritch, Poland. He studied under Rabbi David HaLevi Segal, author of Turei Zahav (Taz). Rabbi Shmuel served as Rabbi of a number of towns in Ashkenaz and passed away in 1681.

Hanau, 1615. First printing.
116 leaves [the approbation page and the introduction are found after page 6]. 30 cm. Very good condition, brown paper, renewed binding.

Ancient and most significant composition on the 'Mordechai'.
