Sefer Yesod: 'Gevurot Hashem'. The MaHaral of Prague’s Commentary on the Passover Haggadah. Krakow, 1582. Printed by the MaHaral.
First edition of the MaHaral of Prague, Rabbi Yehuda Loew’s second book. Complete copy including the 3 rare leaves!

The MaHaral of Prague’s commentary was reprinted many times. This edition is the only one the MaHaral himself printed during his lifetime, although it was published anonymously.

The last 3 leaves of the book include a summary of the laws of Passover and Yayin Nesech. The MaHaral reproaches those who are not careful with these laws and use the forbidden wine for Kiddush and the Four Cups of wine on Seder night. These 3 leaves are exceedingly rare and do not appear in all copies.

The MaHaral of Prague, Rabbi Yehuda Loew (deceased 1609) was a leading Torah scholar. He authored famed, in-depth compositions. His actions on behalf the Jews of Prague were legendary. The renowned Golem of Prague was attributed to him.

Krakow, 1582. First edition.
