Leshon Limudim. Constantinople, 1542. Magnificent Copy from the Lunzer Collection (Valmadonna Trust Library).
This is an early and prominent work focusing on poem composition and grammar topics in relation to comprehending Biblical text and Mishanh. Authored by Rabbi David son of Yichya, a leading Portuguese sage, during the time of the Spanish Expulsion.

This is one of the last books printed by the famed Family Soncino Printers.

Rabbi David ben Yichya (1440-1504), was born in Lisbon, Portugal and was a great Torah scholar and outstanding orator. Expelled from Spain, he escaped to Italy in 1496, settling in Nepal. While there he became closely connected to the MaHaram of Padu, who held Rabbi David in great esteem.

Rabbi David was instrumental in assisting the many expellees of Spain upon their arrival in Portugal. He aided and supported them, and encouraged them with his uplifting sermons. This was perceived by the authorities as encouraging the Marranos to return to their faith. In wake of this indictment by King Johann II, Rabbi David had to flee to Turkey, where he passed away in 1504.

The title page features two unidentified signatures.
