Post Incunabula. Hilchot Rav Alfas (Nashim, Nizikin). With Numerous Handwritten Annotations on Seder Nashim. Constantinople, 1509. First Edition.
“The largest composition of laws and customs by Rabbi Yitzchak Alfasi with novellae by Rabbi Nissim BeRabi Reuven and Halachic rulings of the Rabbi The Mordechai…”

Two volumes of Hilchot HaRif on Nashim and Nizikin.

The volume of Nashim contains a calligraphic cursive handwritten signature on the first page: “LeAvraham LeMikneh HaTzair Avraham…”

Numerous handwritten marginalia appear throughout the book.

The tractates that do not have the commentary of the Ran, are printed with the commentaries of Rabbeinu Yonah, Rabbi Yonatan Hakohen of Lunel and Nimukei Yosef by Rabbi Yosef Chavivah.

The established version of the Rif as it appears in Gemarot today, is based on this edition.

Hilchot Rav Alfas is an 11th Century Halachic work in Aramaic, authored by The Rif, Rabbi Yitzchak Alfasi, Morocco. In contrast to other Rishonim who wrote complex Halachic debates and Talmudic discourses, The Rif wrote his composition in a straightforward fashion. The book summarizes Halachic matters of Sedarim Mo’ed, Nashim and Nezikin and Masechet Brachot. It some instances the Rif’s version differs from the Ashkenazi one. The Rif adopted the Halachic approach of Talmud Bavli over Yerushalmi. He also combined Aggadah, Midrash and Ethics in his writings.

Constantinople, 1509. First edition. David and Shmuel ben Nachmias Press. Post incunabula.
41 cm both volumes. Very good condition. Both volumes were originally printed without title pages. Volume Nezikin is missing 7 leaves at the end of the book, (from HaMordechai until Shavuot). [The 6 final leaves and a leaf before the last page that exists in this copy]. (The copy that was printed by Hotza’at Makor, was photocopied from this copy and therefore is similarly lacking).
Very Beautiful modern binding.
Quality thick paper. Wide margins.

Rare and Important.
