Shneim Assar Derashot- Derashot HaRan. Venice 1594-1596. Second and Rare edition.
The book is considered a fundamental book of Jewish thought.
Derashot HaRan is a book compiling thirteen of the sermons of Rabbeinu Nizzim ben Reuven of Gerona.

The Ran lived and operated in Barcelona, Spain during the years 1315-1376. The precise time these sermons were delivered is unknown; however, it is assumed that they were delivered in the 1350s. In this period, the yeshiva world in Spain flourished and the spiritual situation of Spanish Jews was good; however, even then, the church began with acts of incitement against the Jews and possibly, the need to strengthen their belief in the principles of religion was already felt.

Being Gedol Hador and the fact that the entire Jewish world was subject to his spiritual authority, the Rav recognized the generation's spiritual needs. Therefore, just as he wrote his Chidushim on the Shas and his commentary on the Rif, he also found it necessary to write a philosophical book proving and elucidating the principles of religion.

The book is divided into 13 sermons. In older editions of the book, the publishers wrote that it contains only twelve sermons since the last one was not counted as one of them, being referred to as "HaDrush HaAcher" (the other sermon) due to its content which was like that of the fifth sermon – or it was not printed as in this edition.

On the title page of the book, ancient, handwritten Ashkenazic owner's signatures.
The book was published for the first time in Kushta, 1433.

Venice, [1594-1596]. Second edition. Zuan (Giovanni) de Gara Press.
Written in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book: "Apparently, the date of printing is 1594 and not 1596 and the book was printed close to the printing of Shneim Assar Derashot of R. Shmuel Yehuda Katznelboigen. See: A.M. Haberman & Y. Yudlov, Hamadpis Zuan de Gara, Lod 1982, p. 82, #164".
