The Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions (briefly Peredvizhniki) is an association of Russian artists that emerged in the last third of the XIX century and existed until 1923. In aesthetic terms, the members of the Association, or peredvizhniki, until the 1890s purposefully opposed themselves to the academicians. They claimed to be inspired by populism. By organizing traveling exhibitions, the Peredvizhniki conducted active educational activities and ensured the sale of their works; the economic life of the Partnership was built on a cooperative basis.

Karl (August) Andreevich Fischer (1859-after 1923) - Prussian citizen, photographer, owner of the establishment "K. Fischer, former Dyagovchenko". Since 1892, Fischer has opened art phototype, zincography and photolithography "for all kinds of publications". The photographer's creative heyday was in the 1890s and 1900s. One of Fischer's remarkable beginnings was the phototypical publication of catalogues and albums of art exhibitions.
