הרב חיים יוסף איסר גד, נולד בקובנא בשנת תרמ"א, היגר לדרום-אפריקה בשנת תרע"ג, עלה לארץ ישראל בשנת תשט"ו, ונפטר בשנת תשכ"ט. עסק הרבה בההדרת פירושי רבותינו הראשונים.
