מכתב בכתב יד וחתימת רבי עזריאל הידלסהיימר
מכתב מאת רבי עזריאל הידלסהיימר. אייזנשטט. תרמ"א [1880].
הגאון רבי עזריאל הילדסהיימר - (תק"פ-תרנ"ט), מגאוני ישראל בדורו, מנהיג היהדות האורתודוקסית גרמניה. כיהן כרב באייזנשטאט והקים בה ישיבה ראשונה מסוגה, בה שולבו לימודי חול בשיטת "תורה עם דרך ארץ". מהלך זה ספג התנגדות וביקורת הן מצד הרפורמים והן מחוגים מסוימים בציבור החרדי, אך גדולי הונגריה וגרמניה הכירו בגדולתו וסמכו את ידיהם על ישיבתו. בשנת תרכ"ט נתמנה לאב"ד ברלין. שם ייסד ועמד בראש בית המדרש לרבנים בברלין. יחד עם ידידו ורעו הרש"ר הירש נאבק בתנועה הרפורמית. תלמידו של רבי יעקב עטלינגר בעל ה"ערוך לנר". בעזרתו של רבי מאיר להמן הוציא ספרים ומאמרים נגד התנועה הרפורמית.
