Renowned detective Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, translated into Yiddish by D. M. Hermelin, New York, 1928. First Yiddish edition by the Hebrew Publishing Compay.
The Sherlock Holmes series started appearing in 1887 in English. The series was popular world-wide and tens of thousands of copies were sold. The series was translated into Hebrew during different years of the second half of the 20th century. This is the first, early Yiddish translation.
