Fabric Matzah Basket. Germany, 19th-20th Centuries
Colorful hand-embroidered basket for storing round matzahs, with Hebrew wording in red: "For seven days you shall eat matzot."
Diameter: Approximately 35 cm. The basket has high walls, approximately 15 cm. With two handles for lifting the basket. The inside is lined with white fabric.
This type of basket was used extensively throughout the holiday. The fact that they were made of fabric made them less resistant to the ravages of time. As such, finding such baskets in such fine condition is quite rare.
Fine condition. Minimal tears.
