Important Collection of Renowned and Sequential First Editions of Biur HaGr"a for Sefer Mishlei


* Sefer Mishlei with Rash"i's commentary and Biur HaGr"a. Shklov, 1798. First edition. The first sefer from among the Gr"a's works brought to print. Incomplete copy.

The sefer was brought to print by Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov, the Gr"a's primary disciple. He writes that he printed the sefer by explicit request of the Gr"a - that this be the first sefer printed.

3-61, 15 leaf. Lacking the title page, the following leaf, and the final leaf with the errata. 24 cm.

Fine condition. Aging stains. Few worming perforations. Reinforcements to the first and last leaves. New binding.

Two title pages. With approbations from Prague's rabbis: Rabbi Elazar Fleckeles and Rabbi Shmuel Landau-the Noda BiYehudah's son, an approbation from Rabbi Mordechai Bennet and another from the Chatam Sofer, and more.

Special copy. At the end of the sefer are two leaves of subscribers. The list opens with the names of gedolei Prague who gave their approbations to the sefer - Rabbi Elazar Fleckeles and Rabbi Shmuel Landau. These leaves are not listed by Mif'al HaBibliographiah and do not appear in the copy in the National Library. They were listed by Vinograd according to this copy here.

This is the 1837 Warsaw edition, but the title page was changed. The approbation and the publisher's introduction were omitted. This copy also lacks the subscriber leaves.
