Historic: Beautiful Letter from Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook to Dr. Wallach. Jerusalem, 1928
"It has been a long time since I have troubled [you] about poor patients"
Very beautiful letter, entirely handwritten by the gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook during his tenure as chief rabbi of the Land of Israel. Sent to the legendary physician and confidante of tzaddikei hador, Dr. Moshe Wallach, founder and administrator of the the Shaare Zedek hospital in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, 1928.
Rabbi Kook opens his letter by justifying himself to Dr. Wallach: "It has been a long time since I have troubled [you] about poor patients. I will therefore be so bold as to make a request for the patient ..." Rabbi Kook asks for assistance for an ill and poverty-stricken woman whose husband is "a pauper, with no means ... Please have mercy and take her into your hospital. B'ezrat Hashem, under the doctor's capable care, she will experience salvation."
